Is there someone out there that can tell me something about fixing a squeaking clutch on a '96 DOHC VTEC Civic hatch?

I'm selling my car and the vehicle inspection report is saying that this squeaky clutch needs lubing. He's suggested that it might mean taking out the entire gearbox etc and that this will possibly be a really expensive fix. So of course now I have the lady buying the car telling me that it needs to be fixed etc cos she doesn't want to be stuck with a repair bill.

Is there an esay way to lube it up to stop it from squeaking? Even for a couple of weeks? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!

easiest thing to try is ubolt the slave cylinder from tranny there is a divot on the release arm where the slave cyl engages lube the divot with high temp grease. this probly wont work, you never know. if it doesnt then you would need to remove tranny to lube the pivot piont on the release arm and where itrides on the throw out bearing.sux cus its alot of work for a quick fix

yeah , mine does the same thing and it's annoying as hell. When i rest my foot on the clutch pedal it stops, i believe its the throw-out bearing.

PS: I hope to fix this problem too, if anyone else can help out there, thanks!!

Sounds like a throw out bearing or a pilot bearing to me. I'd go ahead and replace both any way. Pilot bearing is just a maybe though, if the noise goes away when you rest your foot on the clutch pedal it's pobably the throw out bearing.

I'm with the throwout bearing idea...that's what squeaks on mine.
