OK so now that i'm down to my last few buck, Do you guys think it's worth putting new valve springs and retainers in my LS head, Or should i just wait until spring when i plan on swapping a b16 head on to the LS block. I'm thinking there isn't going to be any need for a new valve train if i plan on keeping it under 7.5 k for the winter right?

I wouldn't go above 7200 or so, you'll start to get valve float.

Just wait... you won't gain too much from the extra few hundred rpms. especially on the stock cams.

You could build the LS head and run it all motor. Most people are actually pretty surprised at how much power you can get out of an all motor LS block. There are a good number of all motor LS blocks pushing more power to the wheels through the entire power curve than an ITR.

Boost mikey, it's being built for boost. In any event i'm just going to leave the head stock for now and put the money into something else. rotors, brake. maybe a set of si wheels. I don't know.

Oh yeah. Boost. For 300whp, I wouldn't worry about a head swap. You can do it on the stock non VTEC head pretty easily, and for the money you spend on the head and head swap, you could have a nice set of turbo profile cams and a good valvetrain that will support 300whp.

Actually, I've seen people running the Crower 404 cams on the LS and putting up awesome numbers. The cam specs are pretty close to the OEM GSR VTEC lobes.

Yup- same here... those or the 405s. You can actually tune it to have an even better power curve than the ITR, even below the ITR's VTEC crossover.

I meant boosted...sorry for the misconception. They're using the big all motor cams in boosted applications, and making some serious hp.

Oooooooooooh ok. That makes sense- as long as you can still tune out most of the overlap.
