Not sure how many of you guys are on hondaswap, but you might have already seen this... I figured I'd throw it up here so I could get some more (hopefully) constructive criticism and/or suggestions from a different group of tuners.
My goal; a car that will refuse to understeer, but will not oversteer too harsh. I'm only looking for between 200-210 horsepower to the wheels. I'm staying full interior and only doing 4 mods to the exterior to make it "stand out" just a little bit more - Debadging, CF hood, DIY "black" headlights, grille. It's been three weeks since I shipped the exhaust driftspeed sent to me (wrong one) back to them, I've yet to hear of any notification from them about getting it or shipping me the correct exhaust. I might just have to call and cancel my order because of the horrible customer service I received last July when I ordered it, last September when I told them i received the wrong exhaust, earlier this month when I shipped it back and got nothing more than a "will do" response in my email. I will never purchase from driftspeed again, for anything. If I see them advertise on Honda-tech I will rant the hell out of their threads unless I get a full refund. Anyway, I was turned onto needing a 3" catback. With a quick HT question and a few links I came up with this beauty; http://prostreetonline.com/buy/thermal_tur...tems/b131-c131/ I might have to cancel my driftspeed order and wait until I'm supercharged to get that. I received my GSR cams last Wednesday as well. Cal - don't worry, I'm keeping buying your brakes in mind too. lol I just know I spend way too much time thinking about my car. Critique me! |

Thermal makes a great exhaust. If your car is still single cam, I don't think I've ever seen a JRSC'd single cam make that much whp...but you could try. I think the clutch is a little overkill, I'd probably go with something not as harsh, like an HDSS. It'll be much easier to drive in traffic, slip the clutch during launches, and will be easier on axles.

The XTSS is supposed one of the two clutches listed for my car that is supposed to be "streetable". |

Streetable, sure. Have you ever driven one? Cause I have. It's got a pretty stiff pedal, and while the engagement isn't as harsh as a pucked disc, it's harsher than the HDSS and overkill for your setup...plus they like to break axles on launches and hard shifting. And I know that SI = DOHC, but not everyone has the car related to their screen name...could have just gone with a simple "I have an SI."

I just think the XTSS is way overkill. I know plenty of people making significantly more power than you will be making, and theyre running the HDSS...holds up just fine. I've driven on a variety of different clutches, and the XTSS has a pretty stiff pedal...sucks in traffic.

I agree. I put down more torque to the wheels than a good number of Honda guys that even have superchargers, and the HD/SS is plenty. It's much easier to drive, and will hold your power just as well as the XT/SS will. It won't be as "snappy" if you sidestep the clutch, but with the HD/SS you're going to have to feather on launches already- so there's no reason to go with the XT/SS unless you really just want to break stuff.
