Hi ppl
I am new to this site and I have a 1996 honda civic LX automatic all stock no mods. And the check engine light came on I unpluge the battery and change the spark plugs but still the cel is on. I also have 191000 miles on it so no luck for me to take it to the stealership to have a free severice so I decided to take to autozone to have them check it with there scaner and it read 02 101 sensor which is the front sensor and the autozone rep. told me its the oxgen sensor 02 the front need to be replace. Now my question could he be right because I am not sure if I read the scanner right but he did tell me and show me its the front oxgen sensor . Now is this autozone rep. be right ? or could it be another problem and if I do replace the front oxgen sensor 02 and the cel still comes on what else could be the problem. Thanks alot ppl and GOD BLESS ...... |

most cases if the o2 sensor has never been changed or alot of miles this is the cause of the cel

what's the actual code it's throwing? autozone is worthless, mine threw a po420 code, which means the catalyst system is below threshold, and it could have been either of the 02 sensors or the cat converter. autozone dude told me it was the primary 02 sensor, so I replaced it but it was still on. ended up replacing both of them and finally replaced the cat, which solved the problem. but yeah that's a lot of miles so it's likely that it's all three hehe

your car has 2 o2 sensors... the one you replaced, and the other is attached to your catalytic converter i believe... the placement is different on the ex compared to the lx i think, so you'd have to check. I meant that either of those could be bad or the cat. converter. But if you've driven it a lot for 3 days then you've probably got it.
