It depends on how it died... you can get used solenoids and switches from the junkyard for next to nothing- but if you have to replace anything else, it can run up the cost quite a bit. Find out exactly what's wrong with it first.

Well the door lock is the least of my worries now. Yeserday I noticed something hanging from uderneath the car. Turns out the pipe to the muffler is rusted in half. Took it straight to honda to have both that and the door lock fixed. $294 for the door and $362 for the muffler. They haven't fixed anything yet because now my front struts are leaking so those need to be replaced. $611 for that. Plus they won't have the muffler until next week, so that means I need a rental car for a week. This whole thing is going to cost me $2k. GREAT!

still less then 611

just drive your car til it gets there bout a week which might be as long as
the dealer have it

if im out of line im sorry
but i dont do dealer and shops they take to long and
some how always find something else to fix that didnt need fixing
in the frist place

cacmaster is a girl, not sure if she has the tools or the knowhow to fix it herself, Hey if you are looking to get it done cheaper my roommate is a mechanic and he does sidework on thursday nights, we're also in jersey about exit 159 off the parkway, my brother could get you the parts at wholesale price and my roommate could put them on if you want, i know it would be a hell of alot cheaper than Honda, i'd help you out myself but we have my father's corvette is up on jackstands right now and i don't have a place to work on anything myself.

Hate to say it but get your car out of there before they start working on it that is way too much money for what they are doing.

Just a little update. I passed on fixing the door lock. It's not that big of a deal. I've dealt with worse on previous cars. I ended up taking the car to a different Honda dealer that is cheaper and actually has the parts in stock, so I don't have to wait until next week. The muffler is about $100 cheaper and so are the struts. I'm not sure what this Honda dealer gets per hour, but the other one charges $90/hr for labor.

I ended up geting a rental car for today and tomorrow. Yeah I'm pimping a 2006 Toyota Sienna! haha. This will be the one and only time I will drive a minivan. It was the only car the rental place had and I didn't have time to go to a different one.

Oh believe me I would do it myself if I had the tools, knowledge and space to do it, regardless of me being a girl. Thanks for the offer Tony but I am super busy this week and it was just easier to take it to Honda. I may end up having one of my friends fix the door lock. THe actuator needs to be replaced for that. Don't know what it is, but i'ts not the priority right now.

could have drove it down to MD and i would have helped you fix it, buck is in town so im sure he'd be down, murat prob would have come up to turn some wrenches too..

all you really needed was some trident gum, 8 paper clips, 2 soda bottle caps and a six pack of cherry wheat. We would have fixed it in no time.
