This sucks, I was driving home last night then my car died, i was like WTF!! i tried starting it a few times, and i just here the starter spinning, and im a noob, i decided to push it back to my girls house and come back today.
So i tried to start it againg a few times actually and then towed it to my home. checking shit out with no idea, checking basic things belts, distr., plugs, and starter. and no luck and starting to see if anything changes. then we noticed that the crank is spinning but the upper portion is not so i was like o ! Then i noticed the teeth were gone on the belt on the crank so thats why is wasnt spinning, and then i guessing my valves are messed up since Ive been starting the enigine. So now i need a new timing belt, and timing job, and to fix the valves that got messed up. So how much will it cost me to get this baby running again? Or should I save a bit more money to do my swap earlier than i wanted too? Or is there any other option im not thinling of, or any suggestions? Its a stock 95 civic Lx sedan FYI Sad Sad day. ![]() |

your probally better off just swaping the motor. I money that you will have to spend getting the valves/timing done will cost you about the same amount for another d-series motor.

Thats what i was thinking!
but i just talked to a friend and he walked me through the process of fixing it and i can get it done for under $300, by doing it myself. I would just need to take it to a shop to check/fix any valves that are messed up. So is it best to have a shop do it all which will cost about $650 out the door, or $300 and do it myself, and is it safe to do it myself. |

Does anyone know of a shop that will do a B20Z swap in the Los Angeles area?

My friends timing belt broke also and he fixed it himself and just got some shop to fix the valves... I think everything cost him just under $300. Didnt take him too long of a time but he had no experience on what he was doing, Just Him/Dad/ and the Haynes manual.

Than swap that bad boy and rebuild the other motor in the garage. You can take your time and build that puppy up, than swap it back.
