What is the diameter of a Civic EX downpipe? I'm looking into getting an exhaust cut-out so I can run open exhaust everytime I'm at the track instead of spending hundreds on a brand new exhaust.
TIA |

yea, it's 2 1/4"
at the time, i didn't feel like going underneath the car to look, but since no one on here responded, i went out and took the circumference of the pipe and figured it out myself. bought a summit racing 2 3/8" exhaust cutout, had it welded right after the downpipe and before the cat. converter (cut alot of the downpipe off to make it fit). the cutout works great. with the cutouts flange on, it sounds and performs like stock; there aren't any exhaust leaks. but once that end piece comes off, good lord is it noisy. thank god its only for the track, i'd go deaf if i had to listen to that all day. $30 for the part, and $30 for the welding. total of $60 spent and hundreds of dollars saved from not buying an exhaust, priceless. |

not bad at all, hope it works out good for ya...ive noticed that too, theres not too many people here that can answer technical questions, i cant really answer too many, but the old site, you could ask that question, and have an answer in about an hour.

I think theres plenty of tech folks on here. I think the reason why the questions didnt get answered right away is probably because the forums were down for a few days

I haven't taken it to the track yet. I will most likely go this Tuesday, but when it is off, I do notice a slight increase in power. Mostly throttle response. The sound will take some time gettin used to, but other than that, I'm a happy camper. And they want $495 for that part. Sheesh, I have the same thing (minus the electrical feature) and I only paid $60 which included parts and labor. People these days |
