It smells like a mechanical burn. but then again once in a while it smells electrical. I'm 90% sure it isn't elect.

ok i just got back from lunch and i did it again. I check my oil and while it's alittle dirty it doesn't smell burnt. I smell kinda smells like a paper fire. I'm going to jack the car up when i get home and get to see if there is anything fanging from my exhust.

Hate to tell you this bro but I had that once and it ended up being electrical. I never found out what the problem really was I just know that my deck caught on fire. I would pull out whatever you installed and check the wiring.

Smooth - Check under your hood an look for ANY type of leak what so ever. You may just have a fluid of some sort leaking out onto your exhaust system and stinkin' up the joint, lol
Other than that, I'd keep an eye out for smoke.

Lates.

I would let the car warm up and then park somewhere and pop the hood, then with it still running look for anything obvious, I.E. fluids hitting the exhaust and such. If it is possible use the smell to try and locate the area that it is coming form, wherever it's strongest will be the area that you really need to check good. Remeber that oil will always smoke if its burning, and so will coolant. Wipe off the area underneath the oil filter and the drain plug so that you are sure that these arent leaking or still dripping. If you find it let me know, i'm curious.

I had this happen before.... it smells like wires burning right.... and it happens on good drives uhhhhh....

Look under the car.... you might have ran over a bag and its melting to the exhaust piping..... I drove me crazy for about a week.... I replaced all of my stereo wiring. But check your piping, and if thats not it go see a doc..... cause that could be bad. j/p

i fogot to tell you guy. IT wasn't anything electrical. It smelled like paper burning. So i jacked the car up and there was a part of a cardboard box that i must have ran over stuck on my exhust piping. Took it out and everything has been cool sence.
