When I was running my D series non-vtec, I had hooked it up to a real hi-tech obd2 scanner to find out which sensors were bad and it worked fine. After doing my swap, and weeks of trying to find this idle fluctuation problem, I thought maybe it could be electrical or wiring, etc. So I brought it back to my friends shop and we hooked up the scanner again, this time I'm running an SI P2T, and the scanner couldn't talk to the computer.

I haven't done a continuity test cause I haven't had a day off yet, but seeing how it just worked before the swap, I would think the wires are still fine. Anybody have any good guesses at why the computer couldn't be read?

1000 to 1500 repeatedly. I've heard of a bunch of people going through with this problem with JDM B swaps, but so far I've tried almost everything. I had another post about this too. I'm starting to think that maybe I just have to much fuel pressure because I'm running way too rich, and I only get about 250miles before I gotta refill. I'm gonna change spark plugs this week, and try to do a fuel pressure check, but I don't have a gauge- I'll have to borrow one or something. I always smell fuel, especially heavy at idle.
But I just wanted to know why the scanner can't read my computer, cause that's probably gonna cause a few problems in the very near future.

The P2T is obd 2.2, not just obd2. Maybe that could be it?

I had brought up that point to my friend who has the scanner, but he has been a mechanic for the last 9 years and told me that an OBD2 scanner will read any version of OBD2. I trust him, but I did think the same thing.

Does he have the Snap-On scanner? If so he needs to make sure he has the right cartridge and if the doesn't work then he should try to use the generic OBD2 function which will only allow you to find any codes it is throwing, it wont let you watch the sensors or any of that. There is a different cartridge for your specific ECU so he may have just put the wrong one in, I've done it several times myself.

^Okay, that's some good info, but how do you mean that there is a cartridge for a "specific" ecu? Do you mean by generation? If this happened to you then you could be my savior on this one, so can I have a little more detail please? Thanks bro

QUICK UPDATE:
I was just on www.hondata.com/techecuid.html, and it shows an obd2-b computer on top of and obd2 computer, and the plugs I have are like the regular obd2 ecu. ???????? Maybe it's another annoying JDM difference? Is obd2-b only american?

Thanks for the tip, but I did fix this problem. It was a vacuum pipe on the intake manifold. So nooooow,
