Lightweight underdrive accessory and crank pulleys offer the the same form of gains that would be acheived by a light weight flywheel, i.e. lower rotational mass and larger gear = faster and easier acceleration through revs, correct?

hmmm. everyone will tell you that pulleys are a waste of time here, on the other hand some will tell you that pulleys are a good investment only when you replace the whole set otherwise, youre wasting your hard-earned moolah.

I had some lightweight puylleys from unorthdox racing on my sedan and they worked wonders for me. As far as comparing them to a flywheel... I dont think that the gains would be as good as a lightened flywheel. but I do know that my sedan hauled some serious ass after the pulley(other bolt on mods were done before the pulleys) upgrade. Acceleration was where the best improvement was at.

the other thing you have to remember, is that if youre running any kind of system (amps, subs, etc.) that your alternator is underdriven, which means it wont handle the amps like it did when it was stock...just something to think about

I'm done with my days of big bangin systems, was wondering about this because pulleys, I/H/E, and nitrous are what I'm thinkin about puttin on her and was wonderin if the $350-$400 would really be worth it or if I should use the money towards building a direct port N2O setup.

I would go for the flywheel first then the pulleys, as far as nitrous goes BE CAREFULL because fuel management is tricky as well as timing.I would suggest you upgrade your ignition with maybe a digital 6 with the ability to retard your timing under spray then get an A/F guage cause detonation is no good.Direct port is great as long as your other parameters are up to par (internals ).Have fun with it though and also keep in mind that a stock clutch only holds a certain amount of power for only so long.
Hope this helps.By the way what are you driving?

save your money for the nitrous set up, more bang for your buck. you wont need direct port unless youre going for a bigger shot, like over 75, and if youre going over 75, you better be going for some beefier internals because that wont last. what methenol said up there is some good advice too...even though he cant spell METHANOL right

IMO and experiences you should start with the clutch and flywheel then save for the nitrous. I only say this because your stock clutch will only take so many sprays and then all that fun is out the window while you save for a clutch. Do the clutch and while you're there get a lightened flywheel to save you time and make the most of the nitrous.
