CivicHB, have you ever ridden in an actual h22a civic? what you posted is old and repeated news. HOWEVER, if you read around, there are those out there figuring out how to 'fix' some of those problems. granted, a b16 in a hatch may handle better but "tons of understeer" is an overstatement. and, more weight up front will NOT cause you to lose traction more. that i know for sure.
anyway, there's some bitchin for you. ![]() moving along. bio, good luck man. no matter what you did, i know everyone here is looking forward to see how it turns out!! finally, CivicHB, im not trying to pick a fight, im just trying to make sure that statements made are as true as possible. ya know? and i will let you know how MY hatch handles after the break in period is up. ![]()

Well whatever..the engine was not made for the car, simple as that.I just feel an h22 is more work.I would like to see an h22 hatch auto x and see how well it does. Not pickin a fight just stating my opinion. The h22 hatch in my opinion will never handle as well as it should without droppin more money into it than you need to.Ugh i need to go to bed, all this rambling is makin me tired! :P
But who knows i may be switchin teams anyway, so all this h series,b series talk will mean nothing to me..LOL! |

Also...You're gonna need mounts, axles, intermediate shaft, some fuel line, clutch line (maybe), custom exhaust, get an AEM CAI for Type R.By the time you spend all that $$ on an H swap you could have had a c5, which is easier to swap.Basically the complication of H22 swap brings u up to the price of a c5 swap
If you do an allmotor buildup go with the c5 If you wanna boost buildup, there is no replacement for displacement, but lack of aftermarket for h22 will hold it down somewhat.Just more for the b series, and MORE things to think about. You need to think about your goals, what are you building the car for, drag, auto-x, road course, daily driver? The h motor also weighs a tad bit more...but not much.Well this is my rant for today...LOL. This debate could go on 4evAr!!! ![]() |

no doubt. if we meet up ant the CL meet we will have to do a few runs at the strip and then see if we can find a track where handling is an issue. it would be fun to see how good or bad my h22a civic compares to a b16 of b18 civic.
on the money issue, you are right, parts are expensive and a little harder to find. but its not that bad. All you need is one person like Goldenboy and parts can be found. and i did this swap to be (dumb ass of me) different. i had a bunch of people from around my area with slightly more knowledge than me telling me that i couldnt do it... pissed me off. so, a few months later, im almost done. part of my personallity i guess.bla bla bla... aight, im done. hahahaaha so are you going to make it to the meet CivicHB? ![]()

I would love to go to a meet, but from what i hear they are all in the midwest if i am correct?I am from upstate NY,kind of a haul.
I never said the h22 in a hatch could never be done, just syaing it it is a lil expensive and a lil more work for what you get. LOL..i am not linin up with you, the ZC is mighty but not that mighty, LOL!!! You did your swap for kind of the same reason i did mine..to be different. Not a ton of DOHC ZC swaps done.I just wanted to be different, not faster but different. |
