For those of you on here that know me, this won't come as a suprise. For all of you who are new to my antics, here we go . . .

I'm looking for a new HB to swap into. My choice for a ride is one of these:

* 90-91 crx
* 4th gen hb
* 5th gen hb

Now that those are out of the way, this is were most of my debate is. The power plant! Should I:

* Take the engine out of my 94 accord (f22? sohc vtec)
* Buy the b16a1 combo that I just found, mod it, and run that

Any and all help on this one will be greatly appreciated.
Winter is coming up on us fast and I need to get started.

Thanks!

my first choice would be the b16.
but if you want to do something not so ordinary then swap the accord engine.
of course then afterwords you'd just have to put an h22 into the accord

I just want something that will scream and handle great.

I'd like to decide on a setup that will last me for a while and still have killer after market support so that I won't want to get rid of it.

I also want to find a setup that I can install myself w/o a ton of parts chacing and moddifying to get it all to go in right the 1st time and last.

I guess I'll ask this too while I'm thinking about it:

What are the advantages/disadvantages of each setup?

I'll also be thinking about tossing a superchager onto it in the future so I'll ask what setup would be better responding to that as well.

I want to go as streight drop / plug n' play as I can if you follow me.

Thanks.

Sounds like u want an easy swap, like u say plug n play...stick to b series or d series.Scrap the accord.The f22 or h22 will make any civic/crx handle like shit.PLus u will have to buy a ton of parts to cram the h series or an f series into the compartment of any civic.I know they have been done...but they are not as easy as a b or d.They will be quick for straight line ,but if you wanna auto x, like i want to, then i would say the f and h series are out.I know there is aftermarket support for the h series but as far as f series is concerned i don't think there is.I say build a D, but as u know i am already biased! :P

If i have any more words of wisdom i will be sure to let you know!

:werd:

I'll take your advise on this one then. Let me make some phonecalls and see if that b16a1 is still avl. If it is, I'll grab it! I might as well get a head start on the build-up before I get another car stuffed into the driveway!

Thanks Core!

Don't forget...if you get a 5th gen, get a cx it is already wired for vtec!
b16a1..that comes with a cable tranny ..not hydraulic?

no, the cx has a D15B8 (no vtec). the vx and si do of course.

sam, just get a 6th gen hatch. you've been down the 5th gen road before. 6th gen hatch + b18/b20 swap would be delicious.

Aaron, that'd be great and all but I've got to save $ for my chop project so I can't dump all that much $ into the project. [DOH!] I wish!!

I was going to buy another HB anyways . . now that this accord fell into my lap, I'm getting all swap happy!!!

I really should just pick up another 5th gen and make due with what I have. I just think Corey is right on this one.

F22B1 into a 5th gen HB just gets me all excited . . .

damnit . . . I need opinions from those who have done it . . .

Vash???

Damn i always get those mixed up!! Cx,VX...
Something to consider...as the civic "grew up" it got heavier and fatter.Also i just am not a fan of the 6th gen civics...the headlights are too big and scare me! :P

I was always under the impression that the 5th gen "CX" HBs were factory wired for vtec too ? ! ? !

Aaron . . are you 100% on that? You just got me confused!

As for the b16: Some came with cable and some with hydro . . .

Nothing is ever easy . . .
