the conversion from hp to flywheel and horsepower to wheels is that you loose approx 15% of your horsepower between the two give or take. with that calculation an obd1 b16 should run around 144hp to the ground. so at 142 youre not doing too bad.

So look on the right side, if you look where your ecu is, you should see a conversion harness thats the only way to hook up a odb1 motor to a odb2 car. Im thinking you might be running the wrong ECU, sounds like your motor isnt going at full potential, mine redlines at 8,400 at all gears....

oh sorry, i didnt know that was directed towards me. the 7800rpm thing was just specs i got off this site. as for my engine, its in and runs fine. see!
it didnt turn out too bad. quick as all hell too. just wish it had double the power... ugh. but 97, you have a fisrt, or 2nd gen B16? and how do you know it redlines at 8400? i mean, i freak people out because of my oem Ex guages that redline at 7k, and i shift at 8. and especially if they dont konw what vtec is, they think i blew something. i get a bit of a laugh.

with max power around 7800rpm and a redline of 8200

Do you see the casting # below the engine code?? The motor you are showing is a 5 million series. This means you have the LSD trany.(Unless some one swapped it out) . There are two series 1 mill and 5 mill. The 1 mill has closer gears with really low gearing, good for the track. The 5 mill has the LSD with normal gearing. Yes the motor came out of a 92 and not a Teg. With the possabilitys of trany, and year established you can bet it was a out of a civic SIR and not a Teg or a ferio. They came with the non LSD tranys.

wouldnt there be LSD stamped on the tranny? Because my buddy got a 2nd gen JDM B16 and his had LSD stamped...

Oh and you might want to think about changing out those weak EX mounts, before your motor starts to do what eric's and mine did, the hood pop! haha

Just jack it up and spin one of the front wheels and see if they spin in opposite directions, it's an quick and easy way to be sure.

it should have a big ass LSD stamped right in the front of your tranny..
