As many of you may know I got my B20Z swap in a few weeks ago, but there are some ECU problems. Right now Phil put in an OBD1 LS ECU with skunk2 obd2-obd1 converter. It runs ok, but won't pass emissions. The OBD2 LS ECU won't work cause of some immobilizer problem, the USDM CRV won't work cause I have manual tranny, and the JDM CRV won't work cause their emissions is different, and it's AWD. Just wondering what you guys with B20s are running with? Are you B20B or B20Z? and is your car the 96-98 or 99/00 style? thanks

I'm OBD1, so it doesn't matter too much. You should be able to buy an immobilizer bypass from a stereo shop, but I think you need the original key to program it. If the immobilizer is wired in properly, you can go to Acura and have them cut you a key that works with that ECU. I think it costs like $75. You need proof of ownership of the swap and ECU, along with proof of ownership of your car.

sorry to bring up this old topic, i didn't want to start a million threads about B20 swaps. i've got a crisis in that my ECU issue still exists, and my inspection tag goes bad in about a week or so. I could always swap with the original civic ECU temporarily to pass emission, and swap back, but it's rather impratical to do every year, and I run the risk of running too lean. If I got a B16 head swap, would the SI ECU be compatible with it? Would it run well with that ECU?
thanks

It should run ok with that ECU. If you ping, add octane booster. You really just want to match the head to the ECU, then go from there. It's really easy to swap out the ECU, so if it works for you to pass emissions, then just do it every year... either that or run down Harry Hines and get "passed".
