I need some help! I was planning on purchasing a b18c1 w/lsd for my 2000 ex coupe. Well I can spend about 300 more dollars and get a b16b. What do you guys think would be a better choice. I am wanting to go all motor, maybe a turbo in the future. If I go b16b instead, could you tell me what I would need to complete the swap. If you have a preference one of the 2 motors could you please explain your pros and cons. This will be the final factor for my decision, so lots of input would be greatly appreciated.

Go with the b16b, has the same deck height as a gsr, all you would need to do is stick a gsr or type r crank in there, and you would have the same displacement just with a b16 stamp
then you have the motor that everyone always wants. Who cares about the fact that stock its .2 less displacement when it makes more HP. |

So are there a lot more mods that I could do to a b16b to make it much faster than a gsr. When I read about 1/4 mile times and people running 10s and 11s in their honda it is usually with a gsr. I dont hear much about a ctr. I am assuming that the only reason it cost more is because its more rare of an engine.

more mods for the b16 than there are for the b18? umm.. their both pretty much the same mother lol same block size.
go with the b18c less money more left over to do real upgrades. IMO b16b is not woth the money. If i payed full price for my type R i wouldn't have gotten it |

The ctr motor is only 300 more dollars, so the money factor isnt really an issue. So my question now. With a ctr motor and there being so many more upgrades out there. Would it be wise to still change the cams and gears even though they are the best oem B series you can get? And with a stock ctr compaired to a gsr off the line, Who would be the first and the winner? Would I still need the SI mounting brackets installing the ctr like I would if I were installing a gsr?

i never said i would change the cams, it was a simple question. i made the comment meaning are there better upgrades then what is stock in a ctr. i was always told they were the best. i know i sound like a noob, but everyone has to start some where. i think this thread has gone out of proportion, so i am out. thanks anyways
