I am going to make the big the purchase of a gsr motor in a couple of days and I have one question. Since my ecu is obd2 should I get an obd2 gsr ecu? A couple of guys told me to get newer gsr and put an obd1 ecu in it with the obd2 to obd1 conversion. Also I know older gsr motors are a little less expensive than the newer motors, so what would you guys suggest.

FYI:
an older motor in a newer car will not pas inspection in some states.

besides, older motors are worn out more than newer motors so be carefull with what you buy.

OK first off like it says above, It's not legal to run OBD1 in your car. Second you car is OBD2b this is important as some wiring is diferant.

So regardless obd1 and obd2 wouldnt make a difference for my car would it? I would rather have obd2 to match the year of my car, but like I said earlier these guys are telling me that my car would run better/faster with obd1 because of one less o2 sensor. Something to do with more fuel? I dont need to worry about emissions.

Getting rid of one O2S does constitute as valid weight reduction. Whether or not it will make you car perform better? Not to sure
