well then you have the other people that do every exterior and interior mod possible and just have exhaust and intake on a D-series. so ya'll are right, a balance is best...but if it's gonna be one way or the other i'd rather have a fast car that looks ok than a good looking car that's not fast at all.
I Couldnt disagree more, before I even say anything what it all boils down to is what we as a person want when it comes to cars. I fixed up my car to a point where I get satisfaction out of the exterior for daily driving and taking trips, where when I swap It will no longer be a daily driver because I live in the city and it would beat the crap out of the motor.

As far as fixing up D series, They're capable of having some big balls with the a massive amount of parts and tuning. Everybody has to start off somewhere when it comes to civics and running 13's and what not doesnt happen overnight, its a timed long process, and a hobby...something to take your time with...OR if you have the dough, do it all in one shot.

But you cant honestly tell me that all of us have started learning on cars with B series motors, Its a learning process, and Id rather fuck up learning on my D, than fucking up a perfectly good motor like a K20, or B18.

Dan: high 12's with a fully stock K20? not calling you a liar but i'd have to see it to believe it.

Dough: besides the first paragraph, i don't really understand what you're talking about there. i know it's personal preference whether you prefer performance or looks, which is why i said I'd rather have a fast car.

i never said D series engines don't have any potential. all i was trying to say is i hate it when i see a car with $10,000+ into the interior/exterior and nothing done performance-wise, but again that's b/c i prefer performance.

werd, But like murat, bo and I said in another thread when your car is a daily driver its just harder to do a swap and take the time and have your ride out of commission.

If I had an EF hatch for a daily driver, I would have laid my car up in the shop to start looking for a swap but I couldnt for that reason.

evo 8 on 22 psi isnt anything..they run 19 stock...so 22 is probably just about maxing that turbo out...based onthe fact that its a 16g. and actually...that hatch is pretty quick...with a decent driver ive seen k20 hatches(stock motor) go into the 13's easily. and ive seen them with itb's and hondata go into the 11's.

unless the car it is in weighs about 1500 lbs that isn't happening.

this board has gone k20 crazy in the last few weeks.

a stock evo does not run low 12's/high 13's. when the evo and the sti were released i read about 100 articles comparing the two. the best time i saw for the sti was 13.3 stock, and the sti is known to be faster in a straight line than the evo. so that puts the evo around mid 13's totally stock, possibly dropping to low 13's w/ the boost turned up like you said. and remember that's from a stop.

now...we all know the evo's (as w/ all awd cars) main strength is launching. in the race w/ the evo and hatch they race from a roll, so that takes away the evo's advantage. the hatch takes the evo by 2 cars or so each time, but i think the evo's badass launch would close that gap and they'd be fairly even in the quarter. so in conclusion, even if the hatch beat the evo in the quarter it wouldn't run anything better than about a 13.3 or so. you were pretty much right about it'd be able to turn out a low 13 (maybe), but i don't think it'd get into the 12's without some mods.
