Now, is there anything different about the GSR motor through years 94 through 97? They all use the P72 ECU, but in 96+ they are OBD2... is it just the ECU and connectors that change, or does the motor change slightly as well?

no motor does not change, just On Board Diagnostics and connectors do but the connectors dont change that much

And depending on what year car you have determines which OBD to use? Or is there some other reason why people choose 1 over 2, or vice versa?

i just bought a 0bd2 gsr from jspec and my ecu looked just like my friends in his eg gsr we plugged it in and the car ran? explain that? im just as confused

What does the stamp say on the engine? look for like a 9/6 or somthing just below the head. It's in a little circle withe like three more circles beside it.
