OK well we got the motor in this weekend but we have problems. Before i started it up i tested the compresion and it was 120 in all four ( is this normal for the comp to be low when first rebiuld or should it be all the way up right from the start?) So the car starts upt i have to keep pumping the gas for it to start/ran. IT will not idea nor get above 2k rpms. And runs like crap. Has fuel/spark and like i said compression is 120 in all 4. So what did i fuck up. If i put the head gasket on upside down would could this be the problem? What else could it be? What should i check?

well i would assume that the 120 your getting is because the rings haven't seated yet.

you sure the head gasket is seated correctly?

yeah thats what i was thinking. I'm not sure with the head gasket as i was tired as hell th enight i put the head on. I guess i'll be ripping the head off tonight to see if the gasket is ok. Everything else is ok timing is dead on. Plenty of fuel, new plugs.

I doubt it could be this, but it sounds a lot like an exhaust blockage.

did you get the wrong rings somehow?

how about the surface for the head gasket.
was it gouged or anything?

I would say the low compression is from the rings not seated yet also..

check all your electrical connections... got all your grounds connected?? everything good.. I remember working on a 99 SI where the TPS and map sensors had the same plug and got switched... car ran like crap.

vacume leak???

You checking compression with the throttle wide open?????
Can't get much air in with the TB closed.
