So yeah, I was browsing honda/acura engine stats, and I came across one that caught my eye. JDM h22aS. That is the japaneese Prelude Type-S motor for anyone that didnt know. So what I would like to know, is it worth the pricetag of around $3600 (full swap). I have decided that where I want to go with my car, is basically a daily driven all motor cruiser. Just wanted to know what everyone thinks about this.

I've personally seen a h22 coupe go. Torque monster
man. I dunno though, i think there's quite a bit involved in doing it. Compared to say a b series.

Oh... thats why you asked me.
Take my advice...(straight from Eric's mouth) "Dont touch the motor of your daily driver." Reason for me saying that is. you need car to get to work, you cant drive car when motor wont start.. or you cant figure out why the engine cranks but wont turn over and blah blah blah. 3600.00 sounds pretty steep when talkin about H22's. I know you can get a full B18C1 for around 3000.00, and H22's are not that high in demand these days due to the fact that its so fucking hard to get the shit in the civic and get it all running right. Personally i've seen Full H-series VTEC swaps go for 1600.00 complete before. I wouldnt pay a dime over that.

besides for that price...buy the k series swap...then save up for the rest of the parts...k series is the shit for all motor daily drivers. you cant beat um in a civic. we wired a bone stock k series in a 99 civic si all this thing had was a header and k-pro(un-tuned btw.) and the car went 13.2 on street tires with the 6-spd. and its as reliable as anything.

bo let me make this decision real easy for you.. cause these guys will tell you what "SHOULD" go in it.. and btw im still not sold on a k motor. BUT. h22 costs you 0 dollars to install (not including parts needed to make it possible) k series = 1,000+ to install (at fucking least) cause im deff not putting in a K series. Oh and have fun buying the 800 dollar + mounts for a K series. Fuck that. Nuff said.
h22 in a 92 hatch call it a day and save a few bucks |

If it's your daily driver, and you don't have the know-how to diagnose and fix yourself, or the money/time to take it into a shop when things go wrong, don't touch it.
