I think you need to have a little more experience and learn a little more before you try and build a 13:1 compression street motor. Read up on tuning, it's all over the place...different EMS options, fueling options, etc.

ok well this is what i was planning...

B20B block, Stripped and hot tanked.

Wiseco Piston and rod combo that Calesta recomended...

Balanced and blueprinted OEM crank...(I know the cranks are good for up to 600hp..no need to get a new one.)

GSR head with ITR cams... not sure if the cam profiles are the same on JDM v. USDM... i'll have to look into that next.

All on OEM vlavetrain...possibly new springs and retainers (depends on the mileage of the head)

P28 chipped and re-programmed with Uberdata OR a V-AFC

prolly gonna mate that to a Exedy stageII with a Fidanza flywheel.

Have it all tuned at Abacus Racing down in VA beach.

THAT is just a rough sketch of what i want in the future.

nooo do not hot tank an aluminum block. Chemical bead blasting is generally what they do on aluminum, but i just want to make sure you dont go there and tell them to hot tank it.

If your gunna spend the money on buy new oem valve train, it would probably be cheaper to go aftermarket. springs retainers($315) valves($275).

For cams, just a little intell. the 01 usdm itr cams are the same spec as a jdm ctr cam and thats the most aggressive oem profile there is.[/b]
well on that note...i wouldnt want the cam profile to be TOO aggressive either. I'm looking to build an all around street motor... not some Pro-Drag All motor beast.. just something to get me around town that i can play with too.

Ultimately my goal is to break 200 wheel hp... if I can do that then i'll be happy.

Those cams aren't very aggressive, you have nothing to worry about.

Aw c'mon.* There are people out in Cali using 91 octane on 12.8:1 compression.
Oh I know, and I know people running slighly over 13:1, but they know what they're doing.

no stock cams are too aggressive...the ctr's are great cams for an all motor setup. im using a cam thats ctr spec on the primaries and secondaries, then a little more aggressive on the vtec lobe than ctr.

to make 200 whp all motor its not the easiest thing to do. tuning is gunna be something your gunna have to look into. Id recommend pistons/rods and port work. along with springs and retainers. your gunna need a good header...a DC wont at all cut it. Your gunna need something like a profab or an ANR street header. a good free flowing exhaust, and dont expect to pass smog. we can get you a pro fab for 520 or the anr is about 750. but you need a good header.

Yeah, for 200+ whp I'd probably go with a more aggressive cam, but that's me. You're definitely gonna need port work, and a high redline.

Nah, 200whp is easy on a 2.0L. Hell, I got to 190whp on a totally stock head- a good set of cams would have put me up to about 220-230whp, then port/polish and a better header with more tuning would have made my 250whp target.

maybe you mis-understood.. my goal is 200hp hell i'd prolly be happy with 180-190 also, so long as it is to the wheels.

You all can stop telling me to have it tuned... yes i know i have to get it tuned and if I pull a motor completely apart and re-build it I know its going to take some tuning to get it running right.

Tuning is important...we're just reiterating that...especially because you didn't know how to avoid detonation.

AUUGH hahaha man you all are driving me nuts..

but yea once i get a motor built i def. have some Dyno time reserved for me at Abacus Motorsports down in VA beach. I believe they do engine balancing and blueprinting there too, so i wont have anything to worry about... so STOP TELLING ME TO TUNE hahaha.
