I would say your best bet is to mount the engine in the back. Ledgend should be accord based so the axle splin count is different. And in reference to the guy that saw one boosted on ebay, the J27 had a turbo option in Japan. If you did mount the engine in the front the car would not want to courner like it use to, the front springs would be overweighted. but good luck with your project.

I'm pretty sure that the old Legend V6 and 5G Accord V6 was the C27 and not the J27. I don't think the J block designation was available until the 6th gen Accord. I was also under the impression that the Legend turbo was an I-5, but apparently it was a 2.0L V6 C20A.

C27 engine code, engine bay fitment info:

To the original poster- yeah, you could probably still fit the engine into your 89 Civic, but it would be quite a tight squeeze. There's not much room in there to work on a B series engine once it's in place, not to mention a C block that supposedly required Honda to stretch the Accord engine bay an extra 3 inches to fit. Considering that the C27 only put out about 160hp and 160ftlb, an H22 swap would be better and easier- that or a high compression B series swap.

Didn't the guy that put that legend motor in a Civic also make it RWD? Customizing an axle to go between the motor and the tranny, mounting the tranny in the rear? What a pita.
