I know it's not a full blown swap question, but it IS a swap question none the less. Move if necessary.

Brian (BDN on hondaswap) got me to thinking earlier tonight. He told me I should get an ITR head and build it with the GSR cams I just bought, new retainers and springs, and a stronger than stock 2layer gasket (I'd go one layer, but how much does that raise compression? Since I wanna boost, I don't want that). I had actually thought about this before he even brought it up.

Anyway, if I were to entertain this idea... How much would a bone stock, completely bare ITR head run? and would the factory Porting be worth my time? Cause if it's going to cost a shitload I might as well just get a bare plain B16a head and port that.

I found one for sale on Honda-tech for 1400... I really hope that's a built, fully assembled head though...

For those of you who don't know, I'm doing basic bolt ons (i/h/e), GSR cams/gears and a JRSC at 6 psi Until the bottom end can get forged internals.

Suggestions Please.

well yeah, the only reason I'd swap is because the stock porting... but if an ITR head is more expensive than doing a street/strip PnP on my current b16, i'd say fuck that.

A GSR won't work without the GSR IM, and I don't feel like trying to wire for IABs while trying to source a P72.

You can actually make really good power under boost with the ITR cams. I wouldn't bother to switch- but that's me.

switch heads you mean? Cause the Cams are mine, and they'll make a bit more power in my b16 until the SC gets installed.

No, I mean switch the ITR cams out for GSR cams. Keep the ITR cams.

Oh. I don't even want to pay for ITR cams. I just want a bare head to drop onto my a2. If not I'll just spend the 400 or so to do a mild PnP on a stock a2 head.

my port and polish cost me $70. i'm not sure if that was a good deal or not, but i can't imagine a stock ITR head will flow better than a b16 head with a decent P&P, and it'll probably cost a lot more.

Whoops. Reading comprehension > me.

A good quality port/polish job will always cost more than $70. For $70, you probably just got a gasket match, if even that.

If the ITR head is going to cost you more than a few hundred bucks, I would recommend sending out a B16 head and having it ported to your application. The factory port/polish job on the ITR head really isn't all that impressive, so paying more for it isn't worth the cash.
