Thinking of consolidating and wanted some thoughts.
I have the '95 Integra GSR with the Type R swap in it. The car needs some body work (rust discovered behind the sideskirts after i took them off) and paint. The c5 runs perfectly but the car needs more work than i have $$ for. I also have a 91 Crx Si and am thinking of putting the c5 in the Crx and parting out the Integra. My question is, anyone have experience or first person knowledge of putting this swap into this car. I realize that it is not groundbreaking but would like some pros & cons, some in and outs of problems with doing this swap (obd2 into and obd0 car), if any. i have heard and read about motor clearance issues and some wiring issues? I am in the process of doing more research but would like any help/info or experiences shared. |

If you use hasport mounts (or the arizona race knockoffs) you'll have clearance issues with the hood. The hasport mounts were made for a b16, so they kept the motor as close to the hood as possible to increase ground clearance. with b18s,the valve cover tends to rub on the hood unless you have a JDM style with the center bulged up. my b16 even rubs a little, and i think the c5 even has a taller deck then the gsr. place racing mounts move the engine lower, so you may want to look into those. i've heard the axle angle isn't as good, but nobody seems to have significant problems. even with the place mounts, i'd still look into getting a Vis CF hood... they make the JDM style for the USDM front end, so you don't have to do the whole conversion.
email the guy who runs rywire.com, tell him what distributor/ecu/motor/chassis you'll be running, and he'll give you a good price on exactly what you need for the wiring. unless you want to do the wiring yourself.

all the mounts ive gotten dont have an issue with hood clearance... you will need dif. shift linkage however, the crx uses shorter linkage than the integra and civic.

What mounts would you suggest for it and what shift linkage did you use? How about wiring issues? I will also need to find a b series cable transmission. Can't use the current tranny that is with the motor. |

It's only a couple bucks more than the cable mounts. The mount kit uses the same driver side and rear tranny mounts as the cable kit, but includes a different passenger-side mount to work with hydro trannies and a bracket so that you can mount the CRX clutch cable (actually, a DA integra cable works better) to the hydro tranny and operate it like a cable tranny. To my knowledge, Hasport is the only company who makes one. I don't know if Resistance would agree with me, but I maintain that you'll have hood clearance problems with the C5 and the Hasports unless you get a different hood. For the linkage, Hasport sells one that works with their mounts (that's what I use), or you can have a welder shorten a DA integra linkage.

FYI- the deck height is the same for both the B18C1 and the B18C5.
You can convert your cable clutch car to a full hydraulic setup if you really want to. Most people don't follow that route, but it's much better when done right compared to the cable conversion. |

ok personally right now, i have an 88 crx with a LS/vtec sitting in it in my back yard...no clearance issues for the motor, the only prob we had was I swapped the radiators out, he wanted a half sized radiator in it, so i had to re weld the radiator supports up, and i welded them a little high and the rad. cap hit the hood...nothing a little massaging couldnt fix. Personally i find it easier, and cheaper to cut and re-weld the shift linkage rather than spend the extra 150 on the hasport linkage that comes with...no bushings at all. Ive always used place racing mounts, but you cant buy them anymore since place racing went outta business.
