Well I'm planning a swap in my '99 Civic EX. I can't decide whether I want the b16a2 (USDM) or the b18c1 (USDM). I hear there isn't a noticable difference between the two, but I've only heard from one person. What do you guys think I should do, I mean, I'd really like to have the GSR engine, I'm just on a budget where takes me a long time to save (low hours, minimum wage) cause I go to college full time. I would go w/ the JDM b16a because the price is the same as the USDM and has the same HP as the GSR, 'sept I hear the engine is much more difficult to install, and you have to spend more money anyway for wiring harness. What's everyones opinion?

Umm, there IS a noticeable difference between them...the GSR will be faster due to having more displacement and thus torque.

i would imagine that too, but I have heard that the b16 is a bit more sturdy than the gsr, but
I would say go for the b18, everyone's got a b16 nowdays

big difference in the two, brett pointed it out. if money is really tight look at getting a b18b1 or b20 instead of the b16, they will both be cheaper.

The GSR is a very strong motor.

b18c1 with out a doubt is a better choice. With a clutch and a flywheel your d16y8 will be close to a b16.

I have a B16, and I'm getting ready to put it in my wife's car so I can get a GSR. Take it from someone who's got a B16 and wants a GSR, the B18 is the better motor.
