I was in the same situation a few months back minus the motor swap, lol
I was looking all over for a nice loud exhaust. After some checking around and weighing out the pro's and con's, I ended up buying a Ractive "FireBall" catback. They are full stainless steel and when mounted, they hang out of the rear of the car diagnaly. They look killer and sound nice and throaty without the thousand dollar price tag. I was damn happy with what I ended up with . . especially for the price! You can click on the pic of my HB under this post to see what it'll look like when it's mounted. I had it on my HB just before I sold it. Good luck. Sam - |

i've heard/seen the exhaust sam is talking about and it does sound good. the basic, standard, quality catback exhaust systems (at least it seems on this site) are the apexi n1, skunk2 megapower, and greddy evo. they're all very nice exhausts. the skunk2 is the loudest out of them i believe, and that's what i have and i love it.

apex'i, hks, tanabe, thermal research,skunk2.... it goes on. I use the HKS and love it. I've also used apex'i which was good and landspeed racing which was decent for the money. But the HKS has a deep sound, because I was trying to get away from the 4-banger "mosquito" sound. Plus with the HKS (and some others), if you tell them that you have a DX for like $30 more you can get the straight pipe in place of the cat, because the DX's have the cat integrated into the header. Then just drill in or weld in an 02 sesor bung, or use a simulator.
