more questions to ask youself, or for us.

who is doing the swap, you or a shop? if it is you, and you only have mild experience, i would definately not do a h22 in a crx. its a pain in the ass to get into a 5th gen civic. i mean you can, but its a hassle. (experience)

ive thought about this some, and i would go with a b18b (aka ls). reasons being:

1) it is a ceaper motor to start with
2) its turbo potential is good
3) did i mention it was cheaper?

i would get a b18b, build a turbo setup for it and see where that puts you time wise. if you know you are going to rebuild, run a little rich and add some nitrous to the mix. (i say run rich cause if you lean out you may end up needing to replace more than your piston rings, seen it)

ok, thats my 2 cents. look up that crx on NADA.com and see what its worth. subtract something for the lack of a motor and see if it sounds good. personally, i love the way the crx looks. its a good platform.

Good Luck

first of all, all of you here are awesome, thanks for the info, i apreciate it. i went to check out the car and seemed to be more work than worth it.
it had no motor, no hood, no fenders, no front bumper, no headlights. i tried to get a look at all the wires and stuff but it was tuff to see in the dark. however i did see a couple cut wires near the ecu. my biggest problem was finding out that it was a parts car. who knows what little pieces are missing.
do any of you think its worth the 400 bucks.

as for the questions Vash asked:

most likely a shop will be doing the swap, i dont have the tools, garage, or experience.

the ls sounds like a good idea. what about ls/vtec?? i would like to run a turbo but would most likely not do that for a while.
im thinking of holding out and waiting for a crx that runs, just cuz it'll make everything easier and i can use it if needed.

once agian thanks for the help everyone.

ls/vtec isnt the best plan if you want to actually drive the car more than just down the track. The overall concensus is that the combo isnt reliable and prone to problems. If you want to run turbo just use a LS motor. The compression is perfect for the turbo and VTEC is over-rated. Sides....VTEC and turbos are one hard thing to match up. It's been done but the two must be in perfect harmony or they negate one another and life just starts to suck...badly.

Spend the 800 bucks for an LS motor...then put the rest into better turbo components. Shit....you can spend the 800 bucks on the LS and the difference between a GSR would be enough for a turbo setup. Hope that helps.

im gonna second that...

VTEC is good with N/A and can be good with turbo... but tuning can be a bitch, especially if you are tuning yourself. if you run lean when the VTEC kicks in, well you may be picking pieces of your motor out of your teeth. (ok, not really.... but)

that said, nothing is out of the picture, ever. when someone tells you something cannot be done, ask why. quite often they are just idiots who just heard something from someone who heard something. get the idea. i remember when i first thought about doing my swap. i was thinking about a b16 which is fairly straight forward. some idiont told me that it was a hard swap and that i should let him do it cause he knew so much more than i did. well 6 months later, im almost done with a h22. needless to say, i cant wait to meet him on the street again.

.... what am i trying to say anyway ....

RESEARCH EVERYTHING

there, thats it. peace

if i were you, i'd go with a rebuilt turbocharged b18b in a crx. you'd get 12's easily with that.

there's a shop around here than actually swapped an nsx motor and tranny into a crx. i saw it once at the strip right after they finished it (before tuning it well) and it ran 11.6. they call it the CR-NSX.
