I have a 92 LX with a 95 DX motor and have been exploring many power options such as mini-me, D16Z6 swap and turbo. Yesterday I rode in a 99 Civic Si and the speed blew me away. Where could I find a B16? What all will I need to hook-up? What special stuff do I need to do to run VTEC? I am still in high school and therefore have a small budget and am competant enough to do the work myself. So my final question is how much do you think it would cost?

Thanx for all the information!

go to hmotorsonline.com and check out the prices there. that should give you an idea on then engine cost. i would suggest mounts and i am pretty sure you will need new axles. if the guys at your napa are as cool as the ones here, you can bring in your civic cores and they will let you buy whatever other ones you need. (technically i dont think they are supposed to to that, but who ever does what you are supposed to do?)

has what you need, i believe. i would guess that you could have it all said and done for about 3 grand. although somebody here can probably get a closer estimate.

I did that swap into my 92 DX and this is what I used. Shift linkage from a 94 up GSR, B16 motor and axels, B16 AC bracket & mount, B16 tranny front bracket & mount , top engine mount & top tranny mount from my SOHC motor, rear tranny bracket was swaped out for one from a GSR , I reused my SOHC rear mount.
Also minor mods had to be done to the Intake manifold and the map sensor. Obviously the DX isn't Vtec but luckily it was prewired for Vtec from the factory. Connect the three wires for the Vtec . Also if u get the right year B16 there will be no wireing issues, ur factory plugs plug right up. Also u will need a chipped P28 (92-95 EX ECU) so u can drive the car. As far as the manifold and down pipe goes I don't know if it reaches ur cat , I just turbo charged mine.
