Since I spilled crap all in my trunk I am doing some custom work. With a suggestion from Jesse I decided to have some plexiglass in the center. I want to put some neons underneath.

Now when you open the trunk the little light comes on. Do you wire to that or is there a way to splice into the wires of the subs....I'm lost

Thanks,
-Azn

You can wire to the trunk light,it would be alot better than the system because you will most likely get noise coming through your system because of the lights. All you really need to do is find which wire at the light is hot and tap into that one. I suggest using actually wire taps instead of cutting and resplicing, then just sand the paint off a spot close the neons and ground them both in the same location.
i hope this was some help.

I believe the trunk light is negative trigger, so you will need to have the trigger wire trip a relay to turn the neon on or wire the neon for negative trigger, I would suggest the relay, though.

actually it depends on what neon kit you are hooking up. the draw from the wire might be too great and aventually (SP) fry the wire or catch fire.... just a thought!!

That is why I suggested using the trunk trigger to trigger a relay. That way it will only draw 900mA of current from the trunk trigger, but will let him drive anything up to 30 Amperes through the relay.

I know this........... Im a comercial journeyman electrican. I was just stating that fact to encourage him not to say "screw the relay" and wire it directly!!
