Headliner Cleaning

i just looked at my headliner while lubing my moonroof and i noticed how dirty it is. i want to know the best way to clean it. last time i tried cleaning one, the whole headliner started to come down. im sure this happened due to the age of the car and not what i did. but to be sure id rather ask. thanks

J, First off . . . is your headliner made of pleather like mine? or is it upholdtered in cloth? I guess that makes the only differance.

If it's the pleather style, just grab a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a few cloths and go to town on it . . . that should clean it up in no time.
If it's cloth, you've got to be very carefull what type of cleaning salution you use. If it is not made spacificly for cloth or interior, it may damage the roof. The chemicals may soak through the fabric, break down the glue used to hold everything in place and then like you said before . . . it'll sag.
Get some foaming upholstry cleaner for best cleanup. In my Nissan, I used to use foaming window cleaner, lol . . . that ish worked pretty well too.
