Does everyone love their GREY interior scheme? haha, I don't. I'm trying to convert everything to black. I already got the JDM panels to swap in.

Has anyone taken off their steering wheel before? I want to take off the steering wheel to paint it black and put on a leather cover, but I'm having trouble. I got to the part where you take off your air bag. The Torx screw is IMPOSSIBLE to get off. I bought a Torx screwdriver just for this project and it still won't budge. I'm afraid i'm gonna strip it if I try anymore. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, does anyone know where you can dye the interior plastic dash/panels? I can't find JDM panels for the rest of the car.

If you are worried about your air bag going off, just remove the fuse(s) that control your airbag.

According to the Haynes manual:
1) Disconnect the negative from your battery
2) Open door or turn on emergency lights to drain the left over electricity.
3) Disconnect the yellow connector under the steering wheel. (It's covered by a panel that you pry off).

I just can't get off the Air Bag due to the tight Torx screws. Do you think Honda or some other place would be able to get it off?

to get the torx screws out... use the torx screwdriver and use visegrips to grip around the screwdriver instead of your hands... and just push or pull with the vice grips while holding in the torx it should come loose...

btw... i have a black civic steering wheel and black air bag... EGs

woo...

even with all that you still run the risk of having the bag go off! my suggestion is to mask everything REALLY good and do it very patiently...clean, sand, paint, sand, clean, paint...about three coats should do you good oh yeah and get you some 400-grit sand paper
here' what mine used to look like:

nothing amazing but it came out looking pretty good the second time around.

Did you paint it inside the car? The bag won't go off if you disconnect the battery and drain the power left in the car. I just don't want to strip the screw, cause that would suck. Maybe Honda will take it off for me

Oh, that sucks. I don't think it's supposed to be that tight..If your airbag goes off, then you have to take it off don't you? Did you use a -- screw driver, or did you actually get a torx one?
