i just want to know what everyone is running. high flow cat? what kind, how much $, and where i can find one. or are you running a test pipe? if a test pipe, how does your exhaust sound? ive heard that a test pipe can significantly destroy the sound of your exhaust.. i need something asap, before my exhaust ships to me. any info would be much appreciated. thanks.

I have an HKS catback (drager series) and had bought the DX model so it came with the 16" extension pipe since the DX has the cat integrated into the header. So now on the B16, the header bolts right onto that pipe. So is that considered a test pipe?

yeah.. It would be considered a test pipe...

I would also recomend a testpipe... Only get a cat if you have to deal with emmisions...

That all depends . . . removing the cat can sometimes lead to a tq/hp loss!

Remember . . . four bangers have to have backpressure to run good . .
If you slowly start taking that away, it's not going to know what to do and will run like crap.

Just my .02

oh, one last useless fact: Louder does NOT = Faster!

that doesnt really help me all that much.. why would you recomend a test pipe? and does the removal of the test pipe create a rhaspy exhaust sound?? thanks.

I would not recomend a test pipe for someone who just has a few bolt ons here and there. You will only see very mininmal gains, but the noise level increase is nuts. It will make it sound alot more raspy/ricerish. When I finish everything, I will be running probally a catsound hyflow cat.

catsound? are they cheap?? i need one asap! i really want to avoid the rhaspy lawn mower sound. that is why i ordered the Greddy Sp2 exhaust. and i want performance, but not the shitty sound. i would rather sound better than go faster when it comes to exhaust. thanks though.

I've had...

Random Technologies- cheaply made, expensive ($250 ish), slightly more raspy than full cat, heat shield rattled off after 3 weeks, welds broke after 2 months, clogged after 40k miles.

Test pipe- sounded like ass (raspy), but well made (bought from Intercrew) and looks just like a real catalytic converter on the outside.

Carsound- well made, not too expensive ($140), slightly more raspy than full cat, nothing's broken yet after 5k miles.
