Lacuna- the comp test was done after the haed work, and pulled 230psi per cylinder (must stronger then Honda factory standard)
Toyz-b-us- after the original leakdown test we changed all the valve guides and seals Hammerhead- engine never misfires and there are no CEL lights on. I'm totally confused by this!! The car is going to the rolling road tomorrow, this will confirm if it's running rich and what bhp it's putting out now. But, it does look like the head's gonna have to come off again. |

OK so you did a leak down before the head work and a compression check after wards and both came out good. But your consuming mad oil and your shooting black soot our of your tail pipe. Are you experiencing power loss? What about fuel efficiency? Have you checked your distributer to make sure your firing at the correct power? How long ago was the head work done?

Rolling road advised the car has 131lb of torque and 169bhp.
The torque figure is ok, but power is clearly less then it should be. We have cold air induction, custom exhaust, de-cat, 4-2-1 Mugen header PLUS the head polished and ported, Integra head gasket and three way machined seats. On a standard 158bhp engine you should expect 180+bhp. Engine is also confirmed as running rich, particularly under light load and fuel economy is pretty poor. Not looked at the distributor yet. The head work was done last fall. As the engine was transplanted in the car, I hope the overfuelling isn't caused by faulty wiring. The mixture level varies throughout the rev range so a fuel regulator can't help. We're going back to the garage regarding the head work and oil consumption. Would a piggy back ecu sort the overfuelling? Gas is cheap, but we have to get the right mixture to make good power. |

I am having the exact same problem, please post if you found a solution.
I have a y7 with new HG, Valve Stem oil seals, FPR, MAP sensor, etc - I cant stop it from running rich without adjusting the fuel pressure very low. I also get smoke at high rpm and lots of black soot on back of car. The comp/leakdown test was fine post new HG and valve stem oil seals, which was supposed to fix the smoking problem, but the garage say it has an electrical problem causing overfuelling that they cannot find/fix. Thanks Mark |
