Wanna put the finishing touches on the 5th gen hatch,so i need some suggestions.
Which header and cat would be ideal for my DOHC Zc swap. Will it make a difference changing these two pieces,is it worth it,or should i just leave it stock, like Honda intended it and save my $$. Are all headers and cats the same? Plus i need to find out what header i need.I don't even know if they make them for the DOHC Zc. |

no not all headers are the same...and you can use any header for a d series. As for the cat...my personal opinion is...get a test pipe. who needs a cat.

it depends on budget...you want a header thats going to make serious power..ANR or Bisimoto(but those cost almost a grand each), you want a decent header that will make alright power...a dc 4-1. just because you dont have a cat doesnt mean you will blow black smoke...if the motor is running right, you wont blow any smoke. When i first put my gsr in my car and we just put the base map in...We had a wide band in it and took it out...and it went pig rich..12.8:1...and only barely puffed a little bit of smoke out right at vtec crossover....now the car is totally tuned and it doesnt smoke a bit. (i have no cat.)

Corey, 4-1 is gonna give you more top end power, because it does not build up as much backpressure and has more flow, a 4-2-1 header is gonna give you more mid range and top end but not suffer on the low end power. as far as cats dude, get a test pipe made, catalytic converters are overated unless your a tree hugger.

comptech and dc/aem make good headers. ifyoudont wanna go test pipe then just go with a high flow cat.

high flow cats still rob horsepower. comptech and DC sports make good headers on the low end scale, but if your looking for a good high end scale header, look to mugen, spoon, and J's racing

SMSP is where you want to go for a high end custom header.

what ecu are you running with your zc. cause my friend has the dohc zc and he runs hella ritch,(spits smoke out of his stock exhaust). he is runnin the 0bd1 teg ecu. but a header will see huge gains. that motor flows really well compaired to the dseries. personally i would just get the cheapest one that comes out that i can find. look in classifides i guarentee that if you look hard enuf you can find one hella cheap used.
