Okay I am in the process of planning my build and would like to know what kind of tuning/fuel management is suggested for this setup.
I will be running a d16z6 block and head with ZC pistons and rods making the CR around 12:1, I will have the whole bottom end blueprinted/balanced, then the head will be a JG engine dynamics redline series head. This is a P&P, 3 angle exhaust valves and full radius intake valve, also included is JG aluminum retainers, JG valve springs, and swirl polished valves. The cam will be a ZEX 59300 with a skunk 2 cam gear and the head has a max RPM of 9500. Skunk 2 Intake mani and JG throttle body. Then all the regular bolt ons. My question is do I need to spend another grand on a hondata or should i chip my ECU and then use a VAFC or something similar? And also on this subject which crank has the best cooling? I read somewhere that there was one that had almost twice the oilers that the z6 has does anyone know which one this might be and also would it be necessary?

I would say hondata or maybe greddy e manage for some fuel management. You could do a Vafc hack for your tuning, but you will be able to get much more precise with one of the latter systems. Hondata S200 would probably work fine for you. What will you be running for injectors? I'm not sure on the stock size, but I'm sure you'll want probably a little bit bigger injector. Hondata for your car shouldn't cost that much unless your ecu is an obdII. Hondata with a P28 ecu should be fine, and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

If you're running it NA, a chip should be fine as long as it's programmed for your specific mods. CL member NineFiftyFour is well known around here for doing this, contact him and see if he can help you out.

well given the setup that i have posted above, what would be a good vtec crossover?
Also does anyone have any experience with the Greddy E-Manage system? I am just weighing all my options right now.

I would go with the vafc,it isnt that expensive and allows for changes in your fuel map to coinside with your vtec enguagement point. If yourgoing tto go that high on your rpms(since you can handle it) then your going to need to mod the ecu you have to allow that desired change.
The greddy system is great if you plan on boost but other than that VAFC all the way. Sounds like a pretty strong setup for a single cam. ![]() |

the emanage is an incredible system.. About as close to a stand alone as you can get. I have had a chance to play with it on a friends car..
can control fuel, timing and vtec.. Just need a wideband and a laptop for datalogging and making the adjustments.
