OK...........i was talkin to this guy the other day and i told him i had an accord that i was gonna swap and just have fun with it ya know? Well i told him i was gonna put an h22 in it and he says that an h22 is fuckin slow and that a b serie would kill that engine. Well i think it would be the easiest swap but he was like go wit a b18c1 gsr in that car. The car is 91 accord lx couple 5 speed 2.2L and he said go with a 1.8 gsr. He said the only way the h22 would be a good engine is put a h23 head on it which would make it a hybrid he said...My point of the convo is Would you lose horsepower by putting that engine in a accord or wuld u be better goin with an h22? Also i would like to know why did he say and h22 engine sucks....tell me what u guyz think and also i want the accord to be like a daily driver but faster than a daily driver too ya know what i mean? thanks if some advise is out there.

oh man... your friend is an idiot.
the H22 is the best choice in an accord. It's a direct swap - axles, mounts, everything. nobody puts B-series in accords, you'd have to do everything custom. they don't have the torque to move the weight around. i mean seriouesly, 190 hp, 150 tq for an H22, 180 hp 130 tq for the GSR. it's a no-brainer. and an H23 head on an H22? ok, so we're going to keep the 2.2L displacement but get rid of VTEC? right. basically, there are so many things wrong with what he said that he's either fucking with you, or he should be ignored and put in a small box somewhere.

It would be more work to put in a Bseries into your accord, and it would be slower. That guy is a fucking idiot. You'd be better off staying H22, rather than using an H23 block and an H22 head...which is what people do. He had that fucking backwards too. Stop listening to his faggot ass.

thats exactly what i told him and he said it would be harder for the h22 to go into the accord but i said man that cant be right cause the easiest swap for that car is the h22......but why would he say an h22 sucks?? advise? He said that since the car was gray plug that it would be hard cause the h22 is white plug i guess. i dont think thats right cuase i can get a book about how to swap an h22 very easily into the accord without having it professionlally done ya know? But thanks guyz lots of help

you could always just keep the f22 block and stick an h22 head on it...Works just fine and makes good power increases.

The H is definitly the best setup for a direct swap in to an accord. Also a b series would suck since the extra displacement/torque of a honda big block is needed for a heavier car such as an Accord. BTW, if you do the swap, sell me your intermediate shaft

[/quote] Thats pretty coo. I asked this one guy about the head swap and he said it can be done but its not really a huge gain..but does that mean if we take the f22 block and put a h22 head does that mean we have to switch tranny, axles, and so on?? ALso will the car perform as if it was an whole h22 engine in there or will it be a lil slower than the real deal? |
