i got a call from the machine shop this weekend saying the grooves in my gsr block didn't come out at .020 over, so i'm gonna have to go to .040 over. i'm not sure if i want to do this, so i'm looking for some opinions from more experienced people. one of the main downsides is that off the shelf high-comp pistons in an 82mm bore are pretty rare, but i did find some wiseco slugs that should work. here's the numbers i came up with using those:

block - b18c
82mm bore
stock crank, forged stock-length rods
wiseco 82mm pistons, 8.25cc dome
head - 1st gen b16
cometic head gasket

my calculations put this at 1842cc total displacement and 12.1:1 compression ratio. On top of this, i plan to run a 125 shot... so i'm building it to handle 400 crank hp to be safe, although it'll probably be closer to 350 crank hp. i was fine doing this on stock sleeves, but stock sleeves minus 1mm of material all around? what do people think? or should i scrap this block and get another one?

82mm should be fine, just make sure it's tuned well. a friend of mine made 400whp on stock B18 sleeves and my tuner made 500whp on stock B18 sleeves. I'm sure 82mm would handle 400crank hp.

I have wisecos in my 84.5mm CR-VTEC and love them.

Be very very very careful with your tuning.
