alright, i drive a 98 civic ex. i just read the 6th gen rear disk conversion guide, and was wondering what are the differences between drum and disk breaks. what makes disk superior...etc. my breaks have been quite un-smooth the past few months and it's got me thinking on the topic of breaks so any other info on breaks (replacement, or what might need to be done in order to make them smooth..) everything is welcome. thanks in advance.

well first off.. drum brakes wear slower. disk brakes faster. you have greater stopping ability with disk brakes though.

but the disk brakes wont grab as hard if you do a conversion unless you have a bigger master cycl. like a gsr one or whatever you get the conversion from

i have a rear disk conversion waiting for me to do in the spring.. besides it looks better then the drums.. quicker stoppin power.. if your swapped or run a lot faster then stock you might wanna consider it, if you want it for just looks dont waste your money

It also changes the way the brakes "feel"... drum brakes have a "spongy" feel i guess... dunno. But word of advice.. if you can lock up your tires.. then you don't need to upgrade your brakes.

in a sentence, discs have more stopping power and are more reliable than drums.
