Hi everyone! I've got a couple of questions for ya'll about Civics '92-'95. Pretty soon I might consider getting one. I'm going to need to replace my current truck as it's no good anymore. Natually, I would be modding it a bit. But thats not my main question. My main question is this, if I'm looking into a 92-95 what are some common problems with them? Natually, no car is without it's problems after 10 years or more so what are some of the Civics? As well, if I come across a problem I can't fix myself how much would an average problem cost at a shop? Oh, and another thing, what is the average cost of a part thats gone out? Say a clutch or something? Just want to get an idea on maintanence costs and what parts would cost, etc.
Thanks |

main. costs in car that is that od should be minimal(part replacing) labor ...it could be free hondas are pretty damn easy to work with at least the 4th, 5th, and 6th generations. I have not worked on anything fromthis newest gen.

the most common problem i know of on civics, would have to be the body rot over the rear wheel wells. its a huge deal if cought early. but if left untreated, will cause havic. my car started a few years ago, had it fixed when i got the car painted and its been fine ever since.
welcome to the site! hope you enjoy it. |

typical problems for most cars of this age is that suspension bushes will probably be worn out, its fairly labour intensive so id reccomend doing it yourself if you feel confident as most mech shops charge by the hours and could be a hefty bill!

I agree 100% with the coments above.
The #1 problem IS the rear wheel well rot. (rusts like a bitch if overlooked) Problem #2? There is none. Just maintain the little stuff. I've owned (1) 91 HB and (4) 92/92's - Imo, the best cars ever built! Another thing, If I were you, don't even bother looking into 96's and up due to the BS emitions testing that they'll soon require. Obd1 owns Obd2! Good luck! Sam - |

to Honda 1/4 panel wheel well body rot.If you wanna get a 5th gen civic, find a souther car and when you get it up here, undercoat it. But as far as cost to fix, they are fairly affordable nad not too much of a headache. Lots of parts out there for them!! |
