imp:" class="inlineimg" /> i live in nj. i called totaljdm and talked to a guy named gordon, he said herman was out, he told me that it would be the cost of the engine plus 150 for shipping. he was cool, he explained basically everything to me, but if i do order it ill prolly ask for herman, id like to see if he has anything different to say. now is just the task of seeing if my rents will help me out or not. it doesent look like they will, so if i do have to get the sohc vtec from that 99 civic, is there much i can do to it to make it a little faster? i mean, i know intake and i already have an exhaust, but i dont know if i could turbo it (down the road) or if there are any mods i should do to make it better. thanks again, u have been an enormous help |

imp:" class="inlineimg" /> im am so frustrated its beyond belief right now. i talked to the guy who has the d16 engine, and its not vtec, so its basically the same engine i had in my car from before, just 3 years newer. now im thinking 1500 isnt such a good price for the new engine and install. then when i asked him if he had a vtec engine he toldme it would cost from 3000 - 3500. thats insane and that really pissed me off that this guy is trying to make me pay that much for a sohc vtec when i could get the jdm one for just over 2000. my parents dont look like they wanna help me out with the engine, they just want my car on the road. i just dont see the point in gettin that crappy of an engine, so im trying to make them see it this way. as for the install of the engine, my "family mechanic" says that he wont do it for me b/c its too much of a hassle due to having to go out and buy all new sensors and crap. so now im also shoping for a new place to get the work done, if i can convince my parents to let me get this engine. i need help, im getting too frustrated with trying to explain everything to them and all i want to dois get my damn car back on the road. k, now what im done venting, i need to know what to do. if i get the engine for 2200, whats a ballpark of what putting the engine and hydro tranny in would cost? and how many sensors would i need and all that crap. i have to know all of this before i got to my parents or they will just shoot me down. they have no idea when it comes to any of this, and they need full explinations before they consider anthing......please help me out, im getting desperate here. and thanks again for all the help, im learning alot. also to answer the question, i live in south jersey, gloucester county (20 mins or so from philly) |

go to www.hmotorsonline.com. they have usdm and jdm engines. and you wont have to replace any sensors on them. they have a start up gaurentee. and they prices are ok. i bought a jdm b16a2 for my 93 civic, not from them though. but i didnt have any problems as far as sensors.

imp:" class="inlineimg" /> ok guys, it looks like im not gona be able to get the jdm motor, i cant afford it by myself and im not getting any help from my parents. this is my new question.......i found another motor for my car. so now i have the choice between a non vtec sohc motor w/47000 miles on it, vs a sohc vtec motor out of a 98 civic ex w/81000 miles on it, and i dont know what to do. the vtec engine will cost me $650 and that includes an aem air induction system and the distributer. after that all i need to do is get an ecu and install it and im assuming that will cost 5 - 700. also the vtec motor comes with a 111 day warranty and im not sure if the non vtev motor comes with anything. assuming that the motor starts and has good compression what should i do??? i think im getting charged too much for the non vtec motor, the total job will cost between 1200 (if i dont need to get any new hoses or anything) and 1500 (if i do need to replace hoses and misc parts). is that too much?? im so lost, and thank you guys for answering all of my questions, im sure its staring to get annoying. thanks again. |
