Thumbs up

Ok, I have read through over 100 posts looking for the answer. I thought I had it figured out but now I am more confused than before.

Here's the deal. I have $3K. I want to get the easiest most reliable set up with the best torque and hp for the green. I have read about at least a dozen options. They all have ups/downs. I really like the b16a2 (usdm si) but I have an auto and don't want the hassel of a manual conversion. My goal is somewhat of a sleeper. So I don't plan on turbo or anything that requires constant tuning.

My ???

Can a usdm b16a2 be mated to the jdm b-series auto tranny (or any other b-series auto tranny)?

Would this be worth the trouble, or would a B18b/c be better?

Finally I have seen a lot about b20's, how does this compare.

Thanks for any assistance you guys can provide

Money was tight and the auto was the best deal on the lot. Paid only $12K had 4miles on OD. Hind sight is 20/20. Unfortunately selling is out the questions (it's really my wifes car)

Man forget her car,go get your own!!!
I think they do make a b series auto.It is JDM,i read about it in Honda Tuning. It was for a guy who was in a wreck, hurt his leg to the point wehre he cannot work the clutch. He has a 98 SI and had it converted to auto. The story went something like that,so i know that there are b series auto trannies out there.I think this one i am talking about came out of a JDM Integra GSR

Check this issue Honda Tuning May 04

The article is titled "Auto pilot"

Would love to get my own ride, but she makes the green!!!
Seems like it would be better just to get a complete B18c swap kit.

The only automatic B series transmission available in the States (besides CR-V) was the long geared LS/GS/RS transmission. You can mate a US market B16 to a JDM GSR auto transmission, but you're going to have to get an ECU that can talk to that JDM automatic transmission. I don't know if a USDM ECU can run one- but you can always try. Depending on where you live, a JDM ECU might not pass an emissions test when you go in for inspection.

I have pretty much decided to go with the B20 swap. What tranny do I need to complete the kit (I need and auto tranny)?

If I did a VTEC conversion, would I use a B18C head? What else is needed?

Anybody have any idea how much this will set me back?

Like Mike said you will need the transmission from the B18b. You won't be able to use the one from the CRV since it is designed to be used with AWD. If your going to be doing a LS/VTEC than you will spend a little more cash. The motor by itself will set you back at least five bills. The tranny should be cheaper since autos aren't in high demand. Than your going to have to track down the new head, shift linkage, axles, ECU, exhaust, and other misc parts. If I were you I would set back at least $3000 to start with.
