imp:" class="inlineimg" /> ok, i bought a 98 sohc vtec engine for my car, only problem is i cant find an ecu for a 96-98 a/t sohc vtec. now what the guy putting in my engine says is that i can use my old lx ecu and just use a msd vtec controller to make my vtec work.......is that correct?? do i need to get an ecu from a 98 sohc vtec a/t car?? im totally lost, and i need to knwo what to do, cause my engine is getting put in today/tomorrow. personnally i think its crap what he's sayin cause a non vtec ecu wont controll the hi/lo cam changes or the fuel ratio and god knows what else. Please help

You should def. look into getting the right ecu for your motor.
As for skimping out and using the stocker, I guess that yeah, it should work as long as you spend even more to get the controller and what not for the vtec. Other wise, you'll be running it w/o untill you can find the ecu that you need.

btw, salvage yards have these! You've just got to call around and find one that has got one on hand!

imp:" class="inlineimg" /> i hope what my mechanic told me to buy works, we cant find the right ecu anywhere, so i bought a msd rpm controler/modulater and pills. i think thats what its called, its something like that. so now suppossedly the vtec will work and i can control when it kicks in. he had me get the pills that go from 4000 - 5000. so hopefully hes right and everything will be fine. i just want to know before i actually install it and take it out of its packaging if it will really work, cause a buddy of mine says he doesent see how it will work. if anyone knows for sure, plese let me know, cause i dont wanna spend the money for it just to have it not work. thanks again

if you have a vtec motor, you need a vtec ECU. im pretty sure that msd thing aint gonna kick on the vtec.
