I have downloaded a number of .bin files. I want to modify to suit my setup. I have a PR3 computer.
I have noticed that I cannot modify all .bin's with all programs. ie. TurboEdit will open some, not others. Ghettodyne will open some, not others. My question is: Isn't a .bin file a .bin file? Isnt an Honda ecu expecting certain information based on the memory location on the chip? Which program would be best suited for my needs? I have an LS/Vtec setup. I have B16 pistons and CTR cams. I have a B18 bottom end and a B16 head. I have downloaded a Mugen PR3 program with the 4500 vtec point. What program would I best be suited to modify this bin??? Any help is appreciated. Thank you, D. |

i did a little bit of research regaurding this stuff a while back.
supposedly turboedit and ghettodyne bin files are interchangable. however this is not always the case. just cuz two files are bin files doesnt mean they will work with the same programs. personally, if i were you, i would go with turbo. jason parker (i believe is his name) the guy that has been working on it, has pulled off some cool stuff. things like datalogging. stuff that ghettodyne doesnt have. and to my knowledge the ghettodyne isnt being worked on anymore. its still available, just not being revised because they guy that created it has embarked on a new challeng.....ZControl. basically a ghettodyne for 300zx's. when i was thinking of doing a crx project, turboedit was my first and only choice. and if your looking for more info, check out http://www.pgmfi.org/ tons and tons of info there. i spent days and days researching this stuff for OBD0 and OBD1. theres also a section where you can download base map bin files and modified bin files. its cool shit. also, check out www.homemadeturbo.com theres a few hardcore guys on there that know some stuff about these programs too. even though your not boosted they can prolly help you out. i hope i anwsered some of your question. -Derek- |

Thank you for your help.
I have tried TurboEdit with some of the bins that I downloaded from pgmfi.org. How do I change the vtec engage point, disable knock sensor, etc.? |

I see under File -> Properties a bunch of options such as VTec Control, Injector sizing, etc., however these are greyed out...
