Malfunction Light On - Car Stalling

The malfunction light turned on tonight on my '96 Honda Civic as I was driving on the freeway. Prior to this it had been driving fine. I pulled off and the car began stalling every time I took my foot off the gas. I've parked it and plan on taking it in to the garage in the morning but I'm curious to know what might be happening. Is it okay to drive it the half mile to the garage?
