I own a 2000 civic ex (d16y8) and I'm in need of more power. So, I bought a 95 b18c. It came with the axles, linkage, and ecu. But, the wires were cut right at the ecu. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. The wires on the motor were also cut after the clips. I need to know if i need to buy a different wiring harness or if i can modify the one i have. I know I have obd2b and the motor is obd1. So I'm kinda lost. Any help would be great.

alright...i just recently did this so i know, you can use your stock d16y8 wiring harness as its already vtec. Great thing...all you have to do is lengthen some wires and re run your o2 senor wires...You dont have to run the IAB wires, And im guessing you dont plan on smogging your car right? so you wont need a lot of things. Get hondata and theres a few things you can take out. Basically, get a jumper harness to run the new ecu, and youll be good to go...you better be good with solder and wiring.

Sorry about that last posting. I forgot how to use proper punctuation. Didn't realize it was a run-on sentence. I'm not sure what year the ecu is. How can I tell?? I'm completely new to this wiring thing. I wouldn't know where to add wires or where to take them out. I'm lost. I'll have no problem swapping the motor but the wiring is a different issue.

Alright...theres no adding or removing wires, you need to find out if its an obd1 or obd2 computer. if its obd1 you neeed a conversion harness. also depending on the year of the car and the ecu you might need a an adapter harness to go from obd2a to obd2b.

Go to http://www.autoserve.8m.com/ECU_connector.html
That site will give you a few pictures of ecu's and the obd. |
