Yeah, the z6 us OBD1, but somehow the thread has turned towards the y6 in Vtec_Power's Del sol which is OBD2.
Doh...my bad I didn't at all realize I had answered a question that wasn't posted by the original poster, I thought I was still dealing with a Z6 block... gotta work on that paying attention thing better

Too bad the governator is signing a bill to require all cars to be smogged...no more 30 years and older exemption rule.

he's just trying to look out for california! but you would think a guy that owns like 7 hummers would want to get rid of the smogg check, not that he would have to have the smogged anyway :-\

WHAT??!!?!?!?!? I missed that, well that kinda fucks me royally if it happens, I can't even illegally smog it then, and there is no way it will come close to passing. Oh well, as much as that would negatively affect me, he has done quite a bit of good things for our state, overall I'm happy with him as a govenor.

Yeah overall I'm very happy with what he's done, this is the only thing that I haven't liked. I really don't get it, because lots of older cars don't have any smog devices like cats or smog pumps...I don't see how they can all the sudden decide to smog these cars. You can always find an illegal smog, theyre just harder and more expensive these days.

Well I was basing upon how I have typically seen an illegal smog check done, which is say you have an integra, well they just scan your reg, but smog someone elses Integra. Under that criteria I'd have to find a 57 chevy Bel Air that passes smog, or find someone who can do it some other way, both seeming to be just as difficult to do. But hey, guess I don't need to worry until this smog thing happens.

But yeah it doesn't make sense, these cars were built before anyone even knew what a smog check was.
