ok heres another boys! when i hold the clutch down in 1st and 2nd while driving, i hear a whining noise. but when i put it into neutral and still driving the noise disappears. is this my clutch bearings or what?? or is it the death of my 94 stock si tranny??

I am not sure what it is, but I dont think it is your tranny going.

Could be one of two things, throw out bearing is bad, this would be the cheaper and best of scenerios, the second is it's the main shaft bearing...if it is the mainshaft bearing it's cheaper to find a used tranny than pay to have this fixed. This would not only require dropping the tranny, but cracking the case open and dismantalling the tranny to get to the mainshaft bearing.

Change the throwout bearing, it will cost less than $50 if you do it yourself, if it doesn't go away..start looking for a tranny.

Any grinding of any gears when shifting normal, and/or shifting quickly. (when I say quickly I mean like race style shifting)

This is most likey what it is. mine make a noise as weel and has for the last 7 months, Just don't care enougth to fix it.

how about first thing first... change/check the fluid in the tranny.. and drain and refill it with new

hey skyhigh 350 thanks for your input, and yes i have been shifting hard and it does sometimes grind into place. but the racing days are over. i'm gonna try and change my tranny oil to see if that helps. if the tranny ever goes should i rebuild or get new used??? let me know bro

if the tranny ever goes get a used one, rebuilding it would be a pain. hey if the tranny goes and you have some cash you could do a swap

yeah i'm thinking of doing a swap but not sure what i should go with. my budget would be around 5000$ canadian that is. still have to look into it . and i,m sure my tranny will last at least another year or more. i dont kill it anymore gotta get the most out of it.
