I have a 2000 civic si. It will not start in the cold weather. When its warm outside it starts fine. In the cold if you manage to get it to start it will act as if its running on one cylinder. It shakes hard and dies. But after starting it a bunch of times and it reaches normal operating temp. it runs perfectly. All of the tune up items have been done including plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and ive added a msd ignition. Ive checked the vaccuum and disconnected the iac while running the engine to see if it was working. Everything checked out. The plugs are very dirty which means its probably running way to rich. The compression check came out great on it. The plugs are correctly gapped. As far as i know fuel pressure is correct. Ive had it in the shop 5 times and no one can figure it out. I dont know if there is another sensor or maybe the ecu is messed up. But im stuck without a car. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you installed the MSD ignition you might want to have it checked out with your mechanic, and if you did it at a shop i would take it back to the shop. Obviously its an important issue and Id have it taken care of by a professional if its temp change causing the problem.

Yeah but if this only happens in the cold I doubt that the MSD would have anything to do with it. Also he states he has taken it to a shop five times, with no good results. Personally my first thought is the fuel pump is bad, but I don't have enough info to give a good opinion.

sounds like its the same shop checked it out.. I dont know what to tell you bro. Try a different shop, Or get a second job to try and pay for a service checkup at the honda dealership. - God it hurts for me to just even tell you to do this.

you said your "tuned up" Spark plugs were dirty huh? Could mean you have a lot of crud in the cylinders too... Have you tried running some fuel injector cleaner threw the system? Might help

We just fixed an Integra with the same problem. Ran good warm, just no start below 30deg F. Coil tested good, even cold - but a new coil is what did the trick.
