Hey anyone, i just bought a 95 honda civic LX . SO i have thiis fuemy smell coming from the heater, i mostly notice it when the car is idle,. Now i got the exhaust system checkin, there is nothing wrong there, i changed the PCV valve, the air filter, changed the oil , plugs. NOw i have been told the smell may be coming from oil dripping on the engine or manifold and burning offf, they said check the valve cover gasket, did that, its good, so does anyone know where the oil could be leaking from , or has anyone else had this problem b4. Tired of the smell , please help.

Also when you guys say, get the car tuned up, what exactly is involved with that. Sorry, im not sure what else to do to tune it up, or what should be commonly done. Ive never owned a civic b4.

Thanks, hope someone can help !!!!

I think there was a thread on H-T showing you how to take your heater core apart and clean that out. Somtimes shit can fall in there clogging it making all sorts of smells come out of there. I'll see if I can find it.

Murat: link to that thread cause i want to take my heater core out and clean it, my heat isnt as hot as id like it to be.

Lady Harley: Go buy yourself a little bottle of Oil leak detector (UV detective) and a little UV pen light. Run the stuff in your car for a couple days and get the light and shine it around the motor, and you should find where your oil is leaking from.

Well I can tell you that its not easy to pull out. If you wanna replace it you have to take the dash completely off.

I can try to see if I can find a diagram or something for you.

I dont think you have to take off the dash to replace the blower motor or the heater core. The blower motor is located under the glove box, you cant miss it. and the heater core is under the dash on the pass side as well. Get yourself a helms manual it should show you where these things are.
