First off I'm new here so I just want to say hi to everyone.. I've read through a few of the threads and it seems to be a good and informative forum.

So here is my situation. I recently bought a '99 SiR with a B18C5 swap. The guy before me just had a short ram intake on it with no supports so it is resting on a hose that goes to the radiator (I guess you could say bouncing up and down on it while driving) and it has eaten its way through the rubber covering (nothing too major). So before it gets worse I decided to go out and buy a nice hybrid intake from aem that relocates the filter to the front wheel well area. In order to do this I need to replace the stock motor mount with the one that came with the intake because the intake would go through the stock one. I have two quick questions for everyone:

1. When removing the stock motor mount do I need to support the engine/tranny, or anything for that matter?

2. Why do they recommend to drain a half gallon of coolant?

Maybe i am reading this wrong, but since when do you need to remove a motor mount to put on a CAI(Cold air intake) on.I assume that is what you are puttting on since you said you are "relocating" it near the wheel.

well the mount they are talking about ti the torque mount in the front of the tranny. This mount doesn't support the engines weight it just stops it from torque movment while driving (Back and forth) so no you do not have to support the engine.

I would replace the cooland hose, and yes for clearance issues, AEM does provide you with an aftermarket torque mount. You DO NOT want to completely remove this and throw it in the garbage. AEM provides you with everything and directions. good luck.

Not to direct you away from Civicland, but I wrote a very thorough how-to on installing the hybrid intake back in December. It's on HondaSwap's front page, and is also linked from AEM's web site.

Thats an awesome write up, thanks for the help! I noticed you didn't mention draining a half gallon of coolant.. did you do that?

Just as a side note, my install is on hold for now.. I picked up the pipe today and realized that it is bent on the end that joins with the throttle body.. so I'm taking it back to the shop.. hopefully they'll have another one in stock.

I dont see why you would need to drain coolant to put an intake on...

Yeah- I didn't touch anything in the cooling system to install the intake. Since yours is already messed up, you'll need to drain and refill coolant- but normally you don't have to.

Alright.. right on.. mines not messed up it's just the insulation around the hose.. I was just wondering about this because its one of the steps in their installation manual and I didn't know why.. lol
